congrats, I thought you were looking at getting a tikka- back when all those nasty KB were front page. That proby would make me change my mind too. Now get a scope on her and show us some groupings!

Didn't change my mind due to that. I just couldn't find one at a reasonable price, and I decided I would prefer a heavier rifle though I lost the detachable magazine as a trade-off for availability and less recoil. I'm still ahead I guess. With the money saved I'm going to get a Bell and Carlson stock to replace the OEM and true and time the action plus glass bed for good measure. I'll be sure to post up groupings when I can.

Congrats on the new rifle! I think you will be impressed with the accuracy of the Savage. Are you planning to shoot some groups before you make any modifications and then after the modifications just to see the difference? I was going to replace the stock on my model 16 with a laminate, but after shooting it I am happy with it for now. What type of ammo are you planning to shoot? I have shot some Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertips 130 & 150 grain, and I have some Federal 130 grain Ballistic tips and 140 grain AccuBonds on the way. I also plan to try some handloads later on this spring as well.

Absolutely! I'd like to see where the money went and if it was worth it. I plan on shooting 140 grain Accubonds and primarily FailSafes as my all-around solution to hunting whatever is on the menu. I do not handload so I'll stick to the factory offerings and keep trying different ones until I find one that shoots well. Hopefully it'll be the FailSafe or the TSX from Federal as the reports on them have been very favorable on all game encountered from deer to elk and moose.
