Shopping for a new ruger. walmart has a ss with a 22" barrel or should I go for the bull barrel at the sport store. just for plunking fun. May add a scope for kicks. any imput on a ok scope ? Thanx. Want to pick one up soon . Cant wait to decide.

I bought the Wally World stainless 22" a couple of years ago when they first came out. I love mine. Great shooting gun, shoots one hole groups all day and gives my spinning targets heck. Only downside is the trigger, it needs work.

Any will suit you as a plinker. If you want something really neat, wait a bit for the Talo edition to come out. Supposed to be a "race rifle" version. Regardless of which you get, it'll likely be a candidate for a trigger job.

For plinking i would rather have the light carbine one.

I also got one of the Wal*mart specials w/22"bbl. I wish it had a Walnut stock instead of the cheap walnut colored hardwood stock.The 22" s/s WM Special was 208.00.
