kimber vs. remington
 

still looking for a good lightweight rifle.Model 700™ Titanium or the kimber montana.Only 44 dollars differnce.If anyone has first hand experiance with these gun give me your opinion please.I am leaning toward the kimber because of the 270 wsm.

There is realy no comparison of these two. I just looked at the 8400 Montana last weekend. I've had Ruger, Remingtom, Winchester & Interarms, but the Kimber is better. THe fit and finish was excellent & much better than a Titanium. I predict that Remingtom drops the Titanium line within a couple of years. If you are absolutely sold on the Titanium, I hear that you can get one on Gunbroker.com for $749.

I am in no way sold on the remington.It was the only other gun in the gun store that was comparable to the montana in regards to a full size light weight gun.they wanted 1044 for the montana and 999 for the remington.If anyone knows of another 5 1/2 to 6 lb. gun in this price range please let me know.also thinking about going with the conquest 3.5x10x44.

I'm not the expert, but my co-worker who is says I need to look at a Kimber. He does gunsmithing and is very impressed with a Kimber he recently upgraded. Now he's saving for his own.

You can buy the Montana for less then the Remington. It's not really a fair comparism as far as quality. If the Montana was twice the price its still a better deal.

They just chamber short mags and short calibers 243 260 308 and 7-08

Have you looked at the Weatherby Mark-V Ultra-Lite? Weatherby chambers the ultra-lite in weatherby & standard calibers. I think they start with the 243 and go all the way up to the 300-Weatherby?

I've been looking at the Kimbers too. I am thinking about a 270 wsm and was leaning toward a browning A-Bolt II Stainless Stalker, but i have heard nothing but good stuff about the Kimbers. I'm not sure that i like the blind magazine though! I already have three A-Bolt's an i really like them alot. I was just thinking of maybe getting something different. I have also looked at the sako. I am leaning toward stainless though for sure!
