Custom stock for a remington Model 7
Hello, been reading the forum for awhile now. Great site, very informative. Was wondering if anyone knows were I can find a custom stock for my model 7. I have an older Remington Model 7 Mountain Rifle, 308. I would like to find a full length custom wood stock. I have seen them before, just not sure who makes them. I did email boyd's, havent heard back yet. Any suggestions on where to look?
TIA

RE: Custom stock for a remington Model 7
Gorse, I think i may have been mistaken on my model, it looks like a LS. It doesnt have the wood grain like they show on remingtons website, its just brown wood, however the stock style looks the same. Its ok, just was never real hot on the style of the stock. I did contact Remington to see about getting the Mannlicher style stock from them, still waiting to hear from them too. My model 7 was my first rifle, had for about 20 years now. Its a nice light carry rifle, plus I never sell any of my guns, so figured I'd give it a facelift. I used to hunt with a guy that had an old custom 8mm mauser, it had the mannlicher stock, I was always very fond of that gun. Along with a new stock, looking to install one of those new Aetec scopes, I hear good things about them. Any additional links to custom/aftermarket stocks would also be appreciated, keeping my options open.

After some extensive searching on the remington website, I found you can indeed purchase the Mannlicher stock for the model 7 for 406.85. Doubt I could get a custom stock that cheap. I may order that this week, along with the new scope, looking forward to getting that gun out again. It is an excellent woods gun.

Few things I found out. One, remington no longer has any stocks in stock [:'(] Also, my model 7 being so old, has the 18.5" barrel, not the 20, so the stock wouldnt work anyhow. Looking to maybe fit a stock off a 673, the action is the same, also should float the barrel well. I found a used 673 stock, may just go that route until I can find a nice mannlicher stock for it.
