A Ruger 10/22 is very hard to beat, plus lots of goodies available for them.

otis

I guess the question is do you want an auto-loader or a bolt action repeater? They're both fine firearms. I had a 10-22 but gave it to my son when I purchased my 77-22. I prefer the 77-22 because it is more akin to my high powered rifles, i.e.. bolt action. Thereby giving me practice and familiarity more in line with my hunting rifles. Whichever you choose, you'll enjoy. (Between you and me....get the 77-22.) gg.

I've had a 10-22 since '90 and a 77/22 Allweather since '92 or '93,not sure which. The 10-22 is still like new. I took the scope off of it a few years ago it hasn't been fired in maybe 5 years. The 77 is one he!! for stout action for a little 22 rimfire. And you'd be surprised at how fast that little short bolt can be worked.I floated the barrel, cut a coil off of the trigger spring and installed an adjustable trigger overtravel screw in the reciever. It shoots 5/8" groups at 50 yards with Super-X hollow points and a Redfield 2-7 compact scope.Good enough for me and the gophers I hang around with.My 10-22 never shot that well at all,and it's a short, light little thing that never turned me on.The 77 is lot more rifle, but a lot more money too.
