RE: i want a new rifle....it's driving me nuts!
thanks for all the good ideas guys.
skeeter i absolutly agree with u that the 7 mag will do just fine for deer bears elk and moose. that's one of the reasons i bought it. however when i was hunting bears aug 26 and we where crawling thru bush wheat and corn fields i really wanted a shorter rifle! my gun is 44 1/2 inches long. u'd be suprised what that thing can all get hung up on. it was so tight that if i had to swing around suddenly i couldn't do that without banging my rifle on something. the guide gun (which i'm going with now) is 7 1/2 inches shorter. that will make one hell of a difference i'm sure. i want to give it a try anyways and see what it's like. the people i've talked to about the guide gun all love it.

DUFFY...
do you think you will ever part with that rem 7600 in 35whelen?
prairieboy...
one of the gun auction places has a rem 760 or a 7600 chambered in 35 rem.it would be a very nice round for hunting in the thick stuff and known in maine to be a excellent brush gun and quick of balck bears. plus i am not 100% sure but i think you can reload using 35 whelen bullets.
my buddy uses one and he drops deer in there tracks using 200gr. federal classics. not real good over 150yds. but then again what tubular magazine is?

Always nice to get a new rifle & sometimes it hard to find(good?) reasons etc.... But it is addicting, aquiring new guns like quilly was saying in his other post !lol<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>
Have a H&R single shot rifle in 45/70(whitetails unlimited/1997 model)(n black walnut stock) unfired & 100 cases new federal permium nickel bass.
Liked the idea of interchangable barrels(and the price) etc on one gun& never could get any extras barrels. so its just sat there while i been using other firearms.
37&1/2 inchs long& (has a22inch barrel.
Think they use to shoot those 45/70,s etc a long ways in the old days even without benafit of much in the way of optic,s?
those 405 grain bullets just might kill something. close or a lill far lol
yep think those old 45,s will be around for awhile longer.
good hunting to all
