I was wondering if hunters were screaming with outrage when the .308Win was introduced as a commercial hunting round. The .308Win did "practically" everything the .30/06 did in a smaller package with smaller lighter rifles.
It seems to me that the same comparison can be made today between the .300WSM and the .300Win Mag but for some reason it appears to be giving every one fits. Some of this can be blamed on agreesive marketing but not all of it.
I'd be willing to bet that most of the WSM bashing would not occur if the .300WSM had been accepted as a military cartridge first.
Just my thoughts. Anyone else's?

No, DaNewf, we weren't! We welcomed the M 70 Featherweight!! A few of course declared the .308 would never replace the .30/'06, but everyone who used a .308 found that you couldn't discrimate a .308 wound channel from a .30/'06 wound channel....And you still can't, if the same bullets are fired from each!
Keep yore powder dry!!
