Dependes on the animal's kill zone, and your firearms trajectory. Good luck.

That would depend on the caliber I was shooting and where I would be hunting . Any where from 100 to 600 yards for targets .

I set my 30-06 at 2in. @ 100 yd puts me about dead on at 200.
My .338 win mag is 3 high @ 100 puts me on @ 300 yd and a top of the back hold on a elk will still hit in the vitals out to 450.

My 25-06 is 3.5 high at 100 and dead on @ 300 and kills coyotes out to 400 with a small hold over top of the back hold and a dead steady rest.
So realy it depends on caliber,if you are shooting a 30-03 vs a 243 win the same sight in of a 200 yds.
The 243 sighted in @ 1.5 high to hit dead on 200
The 30-30 you would have to sight in 4 high to hit dead on at 200.
So realy you would have to look @ the MPBR(Max Point Blank Range)of the caliber and zone.
A 10 in vital is easier to hit then a 4 inch. This also means the bullet won't rise more than 4 in. above the line of sight or below.
