Default 410...and 45

I know alot of these "special" handguns can shoot .410 and 45's, does that mean a .410 shotgun would shoot a .45 shell??? Sound dangerous???Just curious, sometimes my mind wonders......hmmm...Ill go find it....

Will the .410 shotgun fire the .45 LC? In the interest of some youngsters out there that may have a .410 and read this I will not answer the question. That said the .410 is not designed to do so and you would be asking for a nasty KABOOM if you tried it.

I don't have a difinitive answer, but here's my thoughts on the matter....

First off, I don't believe that a .45colt case with even chamber in a .410 shotgun. I could be wrong because I've never tried it, and I've never measured the chamber dimensions on my .410's, but I've got a feeling the .45colt is too fat.

Just looking at numbers, No, it won't work the other way around. .410/.45colt rifles and handguns are really .45colt rifles and handguns that you can fit a .410 shotshell into. The .410 shotshell is named that because of it's bore diameter .410", if you tried to fire a .454" bullet down it (.45colt), what do you think is going to happen? It's going to get stuck in the bore if it even chambers at all.

Last I knew, the .45colt put out higher pressures than the .410 as well, so it's not likely a thin walled shotgun chamber would be able to withstand the pressure from a .45colt round, even if you COULD get it to chamber...

Now, combine the fact that you've got an over pressured round with an over bored slug that's going to turn into its own barrel obstruction...

I guess the bright side would be instead of having just one .410 shotgun, you'd have four or five PIECES of a .410 shotgun, and four or five is more than one!!

If your gun was made to handle both, it would be labelled as both, like the rifles and handguns you mentioned are.

Moral of the story, in case you missed it, no, you can't fire .45colt from a .410 shotgun. It only works one way... .45's can shoot .410, .410's can't shoot .45

I know it will fit and fire both ways . BUT NOT SAFELY.
Remember the 410 has a choke the 45 dosn't.
When the bullet hits the choke pressure will build fast and high.
