It is "possible" to use a 22 but maybe not advisable.

Hit the wrong button. While moose aren't hard to kill and I like the 243 I don't believe it is what I'd call a good match. Moose have big bones more ooomph is needed.

243 is a great moose round if your real close and hit him in the slats otherwise fughetaboutit...I know just a few lunatics that have shot Elk with 243's and recovered said animals not to consider that but it would be far removed from my first choice.

It can be done. We were 35 miles into the wilderness when the horse w/ my dads rifle decided he was seabisciut and took off, then he decided to do some gymnastics, thereby snapping the stock off dads rifle. we had a 6mm along for deer and that was what he had when he found his moose, one shot down he goes, It wouldnt be my choice though.
