I'd like to buy a new small predator rifle, used for under 125 yards of open sighted hunting. I want something bigger than my .22Win Mag, yet smaller than a .222 or .223. I own a .17Remington, but I don't wanna use that.
I plan on using the gun for coyotes, grey fox and bobcats.
I just don't know anything about the 3 guns I mentioned. One thing I might add is that I do want a caliber that is easy to find ammo for in most gun stores. That is priority #1. Also, can anyone recommend a good bolt action rifle in one of the calibers I mentioned?
Which one should I get for what I need it for? Thanks in advance.

22 Hornet is the perfect gun for what you describes. Plus, they're not all that pricey to shoot....even if you don't reload.
I shot a yote with a hornet 2 years ago. It did a great job.
Good luck!

Of the three you mentioned the Hornet would be my choice. One other you might check into is the 19-223. The only problems are the bullet availability and cost of the dies.

I have had a couple of 22 Hornets they are a great little gun and the only one of the three you mentioned that you will have no trouble findinf ammo or loading componets.

The .22 hornet would be the best choice, I've never seen ammo for the zipper, and rarely for the .218 in the 5 stores I buy at. The hornet is more common, and thererore less expensive. Any of these three are farely small for coyotes, and if I'm not mistaken are illegal to hunt them with, at least the .218 and .219. Just for price, I'd go hornet.
Fast fact for you, eskimos used to hunt polar bears with the hornet, because the ammo was so common and cheap. Talk about a rush, hunting something that can kill you so easily with a rimfire!!!!
