Hi everyone, i am new to the forum and i have a question for everyone:
i am 22 years old and have been looking for a hunting rifle to use for deer and elk in washington. i found a 1940 winchester model 70, 30-06 and was wondering if you guys could give me some advice. the gun is in 98% perfect condition and the price tag is around $600. so, here are my questions: is 30-06 an appropiate size gun for what i will be hunting for? is $600 a good price for that gun? and should i be concerned with hunting with a 60 year old gun? any advice and insight that you could offer would be greatly appreciated! happy hunting!

The gun should be fine. Some folks would gladly pay 600.00 for about any pre 64 Model 70. I ain't one of them but you should be able to come up fine on that deal even if you decide you don't like it. If you are hunting in North America it should handle all game animals you would find. If you are buying it partly as an investment, I would say go ahead. If its just for hunting, you could do better money wise.
