Default Tikka

I have read some reviews in magazines and online in reference to the Tikka rifles. Does anyone own one of these rifles and if so, what is your opinion on the rifle? It seems that they have good deals on them and just wondered if they were good as they say they are.

Nice very well built gun that is very accurate and no gunsmithing work needed after purchase. They only come in one action length so long or short cartridge you get the same. I don't personally like the polymer bolt shroud or polymer trigger guard as well as the magazine. If they made the magazine, bolt shroud and triggerguard out of a good steel ..that and Sako would be the only guns I owned.

Does anyone sell the steel parts as an aftermarket item?....Brownell's etc. ?

No aftermarket parts except scope mounts availbable for a Tikka..I would still buy one even though it has these parts.

I handled one today at the shop and I was a bit disappointed. I don't like the "one action fits all" doctrine, I don't like the plastic, and I don't like the overall feel of the rifle. That's just my opinion though, add a dollar to it and you can buy a cup of coffee.

I got a tikka hunter 2 weeks ago for little biscuit for xmas to take deer hunting in Missouri. It is blue steel/wood in 308 Winchester. The facts: some synthetic parts as mentioned above. Spare clip is $55. (Get one!) I scoped this with a Nikon Monarch 2x7 and put 20 rounds Federal 165 grain Sierra Game King through it in one hour. It never shot over 1 moa. Best factory trigger I have ever seen. Light 7 # with scope and kicked like a baby mule on the bench. Welll, this will be a meat hunter so I forgave the modern appearance and this will definitely go to my son.

Had to take the scope back, tho. (!?) The power adjustment ring was way too stiff for a hunter.

I got a Tikkia T3 Light in 300WSM as a early xmas present last yr. And I think it is the best $ for $ out of the box rifle I have ever owned. It has a excellent trigger and one of the smoothest action I have ever touched. Yes the stock is a little Plasticy feeling But I like the shape and handling of it. As far as being light weight and a little heavy recoiled when shooting from the bench it does have a little recoil But remember it is meet to be a light weight rifle. and it has a good recoil pad from the factory. My rifle shoot 1/2 to 3/4" groups right out of the box. I have many rifle but this one has became one of my favorite this far.

Yeah, I had heard that the tikkas were getting to be popular. The two models I have been looking are the Tikka T3 Varmint in either an 30-06 or 7mm Mag and the Tikka T3 Laminated Stainless in the same caliber. Unfortunately, after calling several dealers, they informed me that Tikka did not make these calibers in the Varmint series. But I informed them that they did, it was listed as an special order. I went ahead and called Beretta and they informed me that in the Varmint series, they only offered in production to date was the .223, 22-250, & 308. Beretta said it would possibly be late next year before they actually had the 30-06 or 7mm Mag on the market. What really sucks is that I kinda liked the looks of the Varmint, but I don't want to wait next year. I did see the T3 Lite which looked nice. I'm trying to decide on whether to get the T3 Lite or the Laminated Stainless in either the 30-06 or 7mm Mag. But from what I've seen so far, the prices are unbelieveable for gun you are getting. All the dealers I have talked to told me that they all have received great feedback from their customers. Thanks for the responses.

For the money, they are worth it. And I am hardcore anti "new" Tikka person. I liked the continential and whitetail models. I don't like the action style, don't like one size action, cheap stock, etc. But for less than 500 dollars you can't expect much. I have followed three people to range, and they rarely met the guarantee. That guarantee doesn't mean much, remington and weatherby has them too. All you can do is send you rifle off (big expense), and then you get back a letter saying its A OK. I definatly wouldn't get one in Short Action. But wouldn't think bad of anyone getting one.
