Why are sks always fitted with compact 4x scopes? Will bigger, higher powered ones not fit?

Full length scopes will get hit by the ejected cases, since they are ejected almost straight up. That's why you pretty much have to use a compact or none at all. I've seen 6X compacts marketed for the SKS, but that's as high as I've seen.

I'm thinking about getting a 3-9x in a VERY compact model, there's one at a shooting sports store near me, for only like $45. I think that most people use 4x's is because they are the most widely made compacts, and the sks isn't accurate enough to need more than that. MY BIGGEST QUALM WITH A HIGH POWER SCOPE ON MY SKS IS THAT THE MUZZLE HOP IS SO GREAT, THAT RESIGHTING WOULD BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE WITH MORE MAGNIFICATION THAN 4X.

Not only do the longer scope tubes get hit by ejected cases, they block the stripper-clip slot, making you have to put one round at a time into the magazine while trying to keep the bolt from slamming shut!!
