300 win mag will drop a black bear at over 200 yards. so an elk would be no prob. I like the browning abolts but be sure to get the boss its great help

Don't over look the 7mm rem. mag. Shoots very flat out to 400 yards with enough take down power for any game in north america.

I get to throw my .02 worth in, How bout a nice 300 rem ultra mag, way more than enough knockdown power for just about anything in North America, Bears, Elk, Moose, nooooo problem!!!! Maybe a nice 180 gr Nosler Partition?? Oh and get a muzzle brake !!
