New or used leopold?

RE: New or used leopold?
I can get a brand new 3x9x50mm leopold scope for $479.00 or get a used one for $259.00 at a local pawn shop.
Now correct me if I am wrong but isn't the new VXII(04' model) improved in coatings from the 2003 VXII?? Again I am not 100% sure of that but it seems I read that upon development of the new VXIII the lens coatings were enhanced on the other models, in this particular case the VXII was the same as the old Vari x III?
Bobby if it is a VXII you can buy a new one through the above link or Cabela's for $349.00.
Bobby, I hate to confuse you more but you should really find out the exact model of the scopes in question. Always best IMO to get all the facts and make a decision you are comfortable with for the duration.

Skeeter, yes the 2004 VX-II is the same scope as the old VariX-III. the 2004 model has fully milti coated glass through out the entire scope where as the old VariX-II scope had only the objective and optical lenses coated.
The 2004 VX-III has even better lenses than the old. The lenses are matched pairs through out the scope creating less prismatic seaperation of the light thus creating a crisper, brighter, and clearer picture for you to see.
Personally I would buy the 2004 VX-II model over the old VariX-II model.

Now I'm really confused as I think I'll stick with my open sights. The scope was actually a 3.5 x 9 I think, but when I go down there I do some comparison as the one in Cabelas seems to be in my price range. Thanks for the imput guys, Bobby
