BC what am I supposed to think after reading this statement. If you have trees shot up like this 350 yards behind your target area you need to fix your backstop. I think that would be NRA 101 .My buddies and I have a 200 yard range at our deercamp in Alabama..There is no one that lives within at least 1 mile from where the backstop resides. We put up a berm and actually built a welded bullet trap which was put in place. if we had not done we could have killed some innocent racoon , coyote or trespasser with a richochet. You know what would have happened had it been a trespasser . We would have lost everything in a lawsuit.

I don't know, maybe that the guy does have some sort of stop beyond those trees, and is just trying to show those, less experienced shooters the damage it can cause. Maybe there is a hill beyond those trees. I don't know. Just before people comes on here, acting like they are range officers, they should have asked him first. I don't know the guy, but from his post's subject of safety first, seems he has an idea. Probably better then alot of posters. Maybe not.

Call me crazy but what if one of those 300 mag bullet decides to deflect off that Chestnut oak tree and go 1/2 mile to the left or right????

In your original post I understood it to mean that the trees were 350 yards behind the target, sorry for mistaking that!

Poopy, now in your other rants you said Since when are trees considered safe backstops? If you do have a berm, which I seriously doubt, it should be placed as close to the target frames as possible. There should not be anything between the berm and target frame. When you have hard objects such as a tree in your case, richochets are possible.

If you dont mind, why dont you take a picture with a wider view so we can see the target area and the type of backstop you are using, then we would not have to assume anything. You know the saying..a picture is worth a thousand words.

PS and speaking of pictures, try to scale your pictures down to 600-700 pixels wide instead of the 1200. It's a lot faster to downloadand user friendly.

I would like to see some of your guys private range and property backstops. Not the public range like I go too, you private range and backstops. Therefore, we can sit here and critique you all day. I am sure I can find something to make you feel lesser than me.

BC, I repeat. If I showed pictures at a site like this and said that these shot up trees 350 yards behind my "BACKSTOP" were shot by me I would expect to be criticized . No I don't shoot my guns in open woods unless I am hunting.

My range is the most perfect in the entire world....

But does it have the gravel filled rock barriers hanging up every 25yards. In case somebody fired one off accidentally with the rifle too high? Very unsafe if it doesn't.

And if its perfect, it of course is in a valley with 50ft berms on both sides of the range, incase of richoet or accidental dischange to the left or right.

BC I belong to a pretty nice gun club but we don't go that far but last I looked the Leyland Cypress and Pine trees behind the berms were not chewed up.
