I did a bad, bad thing.....
I did a bad, bad thing. I traded my beloved 30-30 in on a clean little Savage 99C (detachable box model) in .308 Winchester. It's in really nice shape, and I'm looking foward to trying it out. The last .308 I owned was a 81 BLR, but it never quite fed right. This one, has a nice oiled stock, weighs in at about 8 1/2 pounds with a full clip, my Weaver K-3 scope, and leather sling. The trigger breaks at a crisp 3 1/2 pounds, and it comes right up to my shoulder. I think me and this rifle are going to have many adventures together.

I wish I could do as bad! The Savage 99 is getting higher on my wish list everyday! The only thing I see that you might regret is trading one gun for another! I am fighting the urge to do that right now. Every gun I've ever traded or sold, I've wanted back! As I said, I want a Savage 99 too, I am just trying to be patient enough to buy one!
I don't think you'll regret it, though! Good luck with the 99

I picked up a Savage 99E in 308 Win last week. I have it torn down and I am refinishing the stock and I did some polishing on the action but it was in great shape. Last coat of oil goes on tomorrow and I hope to get it to the range next weekend. Trading a 30-30 for a 308 is never a bad thing.

pharaoh2,the only bad thing about owning a 99 is you just can't stop at one. I have a 99A in 250-3000 and a 99DL in 284 win. they both have the rotary magazine with the cartridge counter.Someday i hope to have one in 358 .
