RE: Savage Rifles..
i had a savage model 10 FCM " scout rifle " which they no longer make unfortunatly. had a bigger knob on the bolt for cold weather hunting where gloves come into play. had factory williams peep sights and was accurate as all hell out to 250yds. from a steady bench. it was comapct like a rem model 7 .
the only downfall was that it would get a light dusting of rust during the summer months when the other guns did not.

I bought a model 10 (youth model) for the wife, in .308. That rifle will shoot better groups than any rifle I have. I reload some "light" loads for the wife, to get it down to 30/30 power and recoil. It likes those loads too. It's true what others say about the finish. You don't cringe about taking it out in bad weather though.
