Default Shot the new 7600 Pump today

I have been out several times during this less than ideal shooting weather trying to Zero in and test some loads for my new Remington Pump. It started out shooting about two inch groups with the cheaper WW factory 150 grain bullets. I have now run about 100 rounds through it and today I shot a 1.29 inch group. I think with a little more refinement I will get it down to about an inch. My loads so far have been mainly for velocity. I am getting 2860 from my 150 Nosler Ballistic tips and IMR 4350 powder. I may yet try a flat base bullet like the Hornady 150 grain Innerlock . I will try the 150 grain Sierra Pro-Hunter as well. I have had several of these Remington pumps and have always been able to get them to shoot one inch or less at 100 yards. I had one 270 Pump that would shoot just under an inch at 200 yards. The Browning A-Bolt stalker in 308 came in at one inch with the 150 Ballistic as well. .93 to be exact.

My new 260 shot 1.30 with a Varmit Load but shot pretty poor with Factory Rem. 140 grainers. Its only got about twenty rounds through it so far. The Varmit load will have to go under one inch or it won't be doing much varmit shooting. This was only the second real good shooting day we have had so far this spring. I was going to try it yesterday but when the wind blew an almost full box of 30-06 shells off the table, I gave it up.

LOL James I think those 40mph winds might be hampering the ol groups just a tad......

Hows the trigger on the pump...and is there any help for them?

The trigger on mine is pretty good. They can be cleaned up a little but mine is much better than I expected. I think I am really going to enjoy this one. I might not need any of my other ones. NOT!!!!!!!

I usually am told that I'm full of it but my two 7600s outshot the 4 M700s I've owned out of the box. Yes, it is easier to tinker with a M700 and get them to shoot but I still own the 7600s and not the bolts.

I will keep that in mind. The 7600 has two things that promote accuracy. A rotary locking bolt and a free floated barrel. They are also dead reliable. I have had four counting this one and any malfunction is nil with any of them. You are not apt to short stoke them either the way that bolt comes half way back on its own.

I really like it. As I said before I have had four of them but lately because of a bad shoulder which limits my use of bolt guns, I decided to get one last one and give it a try. I know its going to shoot under one inch by the time I finish refining my loads. I got a box of 150 grain Sierra pro huntes bullets today. The Ballistic tips shoot pretty well but I wanted to try a flat base bullet for trying for a bit more velocity. I am close to the max with my current load and am around 2850 fps. Thats eniugh but I want to see if I can get a little more if I need it.

My brother had a 7600 and he was able the get a 3/4 groups out of his handloads, I want to say it was in 280 but don't remember. He traded it for a browning bolt a couple years back. It was one of the few trades he's done that I herd him say he wish he didn't do. It was a very nice looking gun. happy shooting

I just picked up a 7600 win 35 Whelen and had only one range session with to sight the scope in. Working handloads now. So far I am very impressed with the accuracy potential. I have a thread going in the review forum if anyone's interested.
