What 22LR Bolt

Got a friend here at work. Wants to get his 8 year old a 22LR. Told him, the standard 10/22 works great. Doesn't want his kid to have a semi but a bolt. I can't believe the price of a bolt 22. The rugers 77/22 is like 450 dollars. That new remington is more. Winchester doesn't seem to have anything in his price range. he wants to spend 200 dollars or less. Is savage teh only gun that fits that bill?

i asked this question a while back. I ended up ordering the savage. It's a single shot bolt action but shoots LR, Shorts, etc.. It's a nice little gun for the kids and it only cost me $129. I suggest it.
Now i have seen some bolt guns with mags on them. not sure of who the mfg was though. May have been Marlin from what i remember.

BC unless the kid is extremely big for his age..he would be better off with a Crickett or a Chipmunk type 22...I bought one for my son at that age and it cost 130 bucks...When he gets bigger he needs a CZ that will run about 300 bucks and is extremely accurate.
