"at 2.50 a round i wouldn't wanna have to sight it in. or buy the gun. or buy the scope. but i'll take on as donations!"
Did ya'll read that review in either Shooting or Guns and Ammo a couple of months back? One of the low cost .50's, at a mere $2000, had .7" groups at 300 yards using a $40 Simmons 4x scope!

Do you guys realize the research/$$$ that needs to go into shooting a 50 at 1000 yards. I believe the drop is 28' at this range. With no laser finder...you cannot do it. If your finder is off 2', your bullet will be too.
My friend's son bought one, and I watched him shoot it. It was impressive...but NOT $5000 impressive. (Gun, scope, dies, brass, bullets, etc)
That said...if somebody wants to buy one, that's their right.

I don't believe that hunting is the primary reason for buying a 50BMG.... in fact, I doubt that very many people at ALL hunt with it... it is primarily a long(read LOOOOONG) range target rifle. There are clubs of people that shoot 1000-1500 yard matches with them. It's sorta like benchrest gone mad.... I personally would love to have a Barrett semi-auto, but I can't justify the expense. I am toying with the idea of building a single shot... that's do-able. It's definitely not a "shoot everyday" kind of a thing for me, though... and definitely NOT a hunting weapon for me.
