RE: New 6.5X55 rifles
I've been told that many companies that say they carry it have trouble satisfying orders for it. Tikka, Sako, Winchester, Ruger all mention it as being carried in some or all of their lines. I'm sure you'd have no trouble getting it form a sako or Tikka dealer.............don't know about the others
It is a very fine cartridge

CZ and Howa also make them.
I have a new Howa but haven't even got the scope mounted yet so I give any feedback on it.
I know the CZ's I have been around are real tack drivers.

RE: New 6.5X55 rifles
Just a note of thought. If you are a handloader the 6.5X55 is a great cartridge. If you don't handload go with the 260 Remington. The caliber is the same and the 260 is factory loaded to higher pressure resulting in a higher muzzle velocity. The only load I find acceptable commercially in the US is the Hornady Light Magnum European load. It is however hard to find. I picked up 5 boxes at a gun show for one of my huinting partners.
As far as factory rifles go the Winchester, Ruger, Tikka, CZ, Steyr, Howa, Charles Daly, and occassionaly you will find a Remington that was made on a special run for one of its distributors.
I shoot a 257 Roberts and like the Roberts the 6.5X55 does better in a long action that in a short action. Of the rifles mentioned above the Winchester has the longest magazine box at 3". This should be long enough to seat the .264 bullets out to take advantage of the powder capacity of the 6.5. Like I already stated if you don't handload go with the 260 Remington!!
