My apology...you asked for side by sides and I answered over/under.....sorry...

I owned a couple side X sides from Brazil...a 20 and a 410 and both were not to my liking.....

The older Stevens you suggested might be a fine gun.....I too want a single trigger...

I own a matched pair of Side X Sides from SKB...a 12 3" and a 28 Ga both in sporting clays models and they are superb guns. I also had a 12 Ga model 23 from Winchester that I gave to a kid graduating from college...it was also a superb shotgun.

Other than a few used guns.....Stevens...I know of no fine side X sides for under $1,000.....the same goes for Over/unders!!!!!!!

The only Stoeger SxS I have seen had a double trigger. I didn't know they made a single trigger. Mu bad. I will have to check it out.

I MUCH prefer the double triggers on all my S&S's. I want the instant choise between "two" chokes, and what better way than haveing one trigger for each choke?? If i have a close shot (open choke), i use the front trigger, if my shot is longer (tighter choke), i choose the back trigger!!!

Now, isn't that easier than trying to move a "selector" (if you have a choise at all) to do the same thing???

It is for me!!,

There is something of a mistique of toting a SxS through the game fields or grouse woods. I own a Baikal IZH43 12 ga 3" with 28" barrels, screw in chokes and single selective trigger. I love it. I also own Beretta and Browning O/Us too. I've also owned SxSs from Ithaca and Savage. The Baikal is no Browning or Beretta but it is a good quality gun for its price. I like its balance and the way it fits me and I wouldn't hesitate on buying another.
There's nothing like looking down the valley of those twin barrels on a fast rising cockbird of decoying mallard.

Look for a SKB. I think you'll like what you see.As far as I know the Ruger Gold Labels haven't been released yet. Plus the 2 grand for one you need to be serious.
