Has anyone used Winchester's 168 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips on deer? If so, how well did they work? How large was the exit hole? How far did the deer run? Where did you hit the deer? Was there a good exit hole?
I just bought some of these yesterday. I've always used soft point ammo in high velocity rifles, and am curious as to how these will work?
thanks,

The rifle I used this year for deer was a Rem 700, SS, 30-06. In my readings, I found that the 168gr bullet was supposed to be the "optimum" bullet for 30 cal, due to its sectional density and ballistic coefficient. I use the win supreme bullets you mentioned and they performed very well. Two deer, one at 84 yards, and another at about 143. Each fell in their tracks after being hit low in the chest. I am very satisfied with the 168 gr and will use it in the furure. They are also very accurate in my rifle.

I shot a box of the Winchesters at the gun range. I think they are a very fine bullet, however they shoot horrible out of my weatherby Mark V ultralightweight. Still have been unable to find a better shooting bullet than the remmington nosler ballistic tips in 150gn.
