I am CONFUSED here.....
Does Ontario have a regulation stating the .270 Calibre(.277) as MAX???
If so, that is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard....
I would think that should be a MININUM type caliber for BIG game like MOOSE????? Doesn't everyone else?? I, myself, would NEVER hunt Moose with anything less than a 7mm caliber.
I looked all through the MNR regulations online and could only find that your rifle has to be centerfire and 20 guage or larger shotgun for Big game??
http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/pubs/hu...03%20final.pdf
In Sask the MININUM legal caliber to hunt big game(including Whitetail, Muley's, Antelope, Elk, Moose, Bear) IS ".23" . That makes the 243 or 6mm the mininum centerfire you can hunt with and there is NO maximum.

What do you expect from ontario? After all they cancelled their spring bear hunt. And it is ontario voters that keep the liberals( who are trying to take our guns away) in power.

ONLY in southwestern ontario u cant use anything bigger then .270....i think its north of the french river u can use anything u want if ya'll wanna check out some maps.....
i think im gonna get the .22-250 since i will be usin it for mainly yotes since i may see a wolf once or twice a year....
now i just gotta choose which rifle....
i have been looking at a savage model 11F....loooks like a pretty decent price for $675 canadian....plus ive heard that savage rifles have really good accuracy..
i dont have much experience with rifles so can ya'll let me know which rifle has the best accuracy chambered for the .22-250? i dont want to spend anymore then $850 canadian (be4 taxes) and i want a really accurate rifle that will last a long time and also be reliable...
thx

i havent even heard of the .257.....
which is more powerful and flat shooting? .223, .22-250 or .220 swift?
ch312
PS. god dam those bastards that say we cant use anything bigger then .270 in the southern part of ontario! i wish all those bastards would goto hell with there gun registry and other crap. plus, no handguns at all for hunting! so many dam rules and restrictions here its ridiculus....
while there is an open bow season for deer one cannot carry anything larger then #2 shot (if yer hunting where deer are) and u may not carry a rifle larger then a .22 rimfire!!! i think u may be able to carry .22 mag but i dont think so....
so basically we cant hunt anything bigger then a rabbit unless close range with the shotguns....
oh well i guess thats y sum ppl carry a slug or 2 with them all the time incase they see a yote or a wolf eh

and i guess they have proven handy a few times for predators.....
