RE: The better SCOPE FOR MY RIFLE

Adui13,
I think I posted on a different thread about my experience with Tasco. When I got my 7MM mag years ago, I did'nt have the funds to buy a Leupold or Redfield at the time. I went and bought a Tasco 3x9x40 mm World Class. I thought it was great for a few years until it fogged on an Elk hunting trip-ruined the hunt. After that, I bought a Leupold 3.5X10X40mm VariX-111. I have had this Leupold for 10 years now, and won't ever buy another brand. The difference between the two in clarity is huge, especially in low-light conditions.
Just my opinion.

Adui13, read my above post about Tasco! First one was OK for about 4 years. It literally fell apart! Luckily at the gun range. The other failed me the very first season, result was a wounded and lost deer. No it was not the shooter either! When I took it back to the range no 2 shots were any closer than 4 to 6 inches apart! Also on their lifetime guarantee, it took them almost 3 months to replace it. If a Leupold scope does break, it will be replaced within days, not months!
I know the Leupolds cost more, but as the old saying goes "you can pay me now, or you can pay me later!" The "later" part usually ends up costing more in the long run, and also the uncountable cost of a ruined hunt!
I'm not saying every cheap scope will fail, but the odds are sooner or later they will!

In my humble opinion Tasco's are junk. They don't hold zero, they fog and they Can't gather light worth a darn. If you haven't used a better scope then you don't have anything to compare them with. I have a couple of Leopold's two Nikon Monarch's and while they are great scope's they aren't any better than the Simmons ATEC. I won't buy anything else anymore. I have hunted w/ my ATEC's now for three years, in the rain, snow, early morning and late evening. They gather light as well as the higher end glass. I am real pleased with their performance and surprised with the clarity. If you buy an Atec you'll be pleased with your investment.

Definitely go for Burris or Leupold. Can get 3x9x40s in either for right around $200. Both have US made optics and are 100% Made In The USA.

Hello TRAILMASTER
I to am a Leupold user. I do own one tacso
6x18 with the bullet drop compensater. I dropped the gun and bent the scope literally bent it and on the way back to the truck shot a doe (at close range) so I cant bitch much.
They replaced the scope for the shipping cost and I still have it mounted. When you set them side by side and look down range to 400 yard's there is no comparison in the clearity of the leupold. You may want to look at the swift scope's. I don't own one but have heard great things about them on this BB'S and even looked at them my self.
The 4x12x50 is $125 at focus camera

The same in a Leupold is around $500 at Midway. You do get what you pay for thats why Im a little leery of the swift.
Hope I helped some

Mike

Welcome to the board you will get a lot of different opinions here. This keeps it interesting. On my hunting rifle I use Simmons. I have one Leupold 12x on my 220 swift and I hate to say it but the Simmons on my 300 win mag puts it to shame in clarity and in light gathering. Maybe I should send it in to be looked at. Buy the way I never have to rezero the 300 it is always right where it is supposed to be.

Burris & Leupold

The only two companies that use US-made optics in scopes that are 100% Made In The USA

On my Rem 760 .270 I have a 6X Bushnell Sportview. It's a nice crisp clear scope and was around $100.
