Default Looking for a new gun

I' m looking for a new gun for hunting. I have an 11-87 Remington i use for sporting clays and i have used it hunting. Been a pretty reliable gun. It was passed down to me from my uncle after he died. I' m looking to buy a shotgun of my own and am curious which would be pretty reliable, and be a good hunting gun. I would probably prefer pump. I' m also trying to keep spending over $350. Also are deer barrels really worth it? Or should i stick to a smooth barrel and use rifled slugs? Thats what i' ve always done.

I' ve also thought about muzzleloading, but dont know much. Just for some ideas later on what would be a good muzzleloading gun to start with? I' m 17 by the way. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

welcome buff--

this is just a suggestion/question. if you already have a good shotgun and want to spend around $350 for another, why not get a solid rifle? i' m assuming the 11-87 is a twelve, so why not add a deer rifle to the collection. now you got birds and large game capabilities with much longer accuracy than a rifled shotgun. unless you gotta get rid of the shotgun or something. i know you could find a good new or used rifle at a shop or gun show that will do the job somewhere around that price. but....

if you want a shotgun i' d get a browning...but not sure if youll be able to get it new for only $350. the bps hunter sounds solid to me, but i only have autos so i really cant help you there. hope you get what you want. hang around here and listen to these guys. they' ll give you good advice.

Sorry i guess i should have mentioned this but rifles are illegal to hunt deer in delaware because we have no hills or mountains. Actually i dont think you can use them at all hunting anything. Although some people tend to break the rules and use them anyway. But thanks for the suggestion. Like i said though $350 is really my max budget but i would like some cash for extras too if possible

I would highly suggest the Winchester 1300 in what ever configuration that you choose. This was the first gun that I ever had and in 18 years it has never failed to function, not once. If you are going to use this as a " deer only" gun then go for the rifled barrel instead of the smooth bore.

Of course you can get them for a lot less than the MSRP listed on their web site.

Then you are going to get a lot of folks pushing you toward a Remington. I have never owned an 870 but I am sure thay are great guns too.
