You might look into Charle Daly. I' ve never owned one, but haven' t heard anything bad about them. A camo one is going for 350 here.

I' ve seen Verona' s (EAA I think) advertised for under $300.I don' t know much about them, but a guy I work with bought 2 of them and seems happy with them.

Talking about shotguns, does it matter if you buy a semi-auto or a pump action? I think the semi-auto' s are mainly for bird hunting right?

depends on the semi. Some of them are designed to shoot certain loads ...either heavy or light and some will cycle anything.( I imagine that' s the more expensive ones)
Pumps it doesn" t matter what you shoot heavy or light

With your budget you could get a real nice pump. Depending on your area and how the dealeres sales are going you might be able to get a Beneli field grade

I' d avoid the cheap autos all together. If you' re on a budget pick up a quality pump gun if you want a repeater.

One vote here for a Remington 870 Synthetic or a Benelli pump. If not, go with the Charles Daly.

Another vote for the mp153, I have heard nothing but praise about their reliability.Stay away from the Daly" s, they' re starting to drop like flies.[]
