On another thread I made some fairly strong comments regarding issues surrounding individual liberty and particularly regarding the 2nd Amendment! Before this turns into something " personal" with anyone on this site I' d like to say the following.
It is NOT my intent to offend anyone regarding this issue. I do however believe that this is a topic deserving of reflection and worthy of a non-compromising attitude. There is TOO MUCH AT STAKE to NOT take a stand!
At every point in history where important changes have taken place in the " human condition" people have either been apathetic, misinformed, (or in cases of positive changes), willing to " take a stand" . There are some issues that once compromised can only once again be repurchased with a " huge cost" of human misery and suffering! It is important that every American that believes the Constitution of the United States is the most " defining" document leading to individual liberty as the " norm" for the human condition....be vigilant NOT to give away what was purchased for us with blood!
Any one that believes you have a " right" to speak your mind, a " right" to be armed, a " right" to self-determination, should own...and read a copy of the U.S. Constitution. As well as the original Bill or Rights. Actually there is a great deal more to be read by anyone whose intent it is to determine the mindset of the founders of this Republic! It would behoove us all to be aware of those issues.
And please......by all means if you happen to be someone that could " care less" .....please do NOT volunteer to give away my liberty! If you are not part of the solution you are most assuredly part of the problem.
Now....I' ve spent some time on my " Soap Box" ......and I do NOT intend to offend. If however you have been offended...I suggest you do some introspection and determine why you have been offended. I promise this is NOT a personal thing for me.....it is much too important for that! (And much " bigger" as well!)

akbound,
I will assume the " ak" is from the AK47. Anyway, this is not a POLITICAL forum but rather a message board where people can discuss issues surrounding guns and hunting.
If you keep your OPINIONS or STANDS to yourself and help answer someones question, you' ll do alright.
Opinions are like *holes, everyone has one.

Tomster,
with all due respect, you are correct about AKbound not starting a political thread on the gun board. However, on another thread on this board, there were a few people making political opinions on using certain rifles for hunting, so I understand AK' s need to vent.
Ak, today' s is a good day to vent about ' assault weapons' . Please check out the thread about assault weapons on the politics board.... http://forum.hunting.net/asppg/tm.as...mode=1&smode=1
Enjoy

Tomster,
Specifically to inquiry ak is for Alaska...not AK47. And you are right about ***holes and their opinions. I did not begin the opinion comments regarding politics, but rather responded to them.
I agree this is about firearms, not politics! But if you believe the two are not intertwined in this country in this day and age.....there really is no point in discussing it with you! I have better ways to waste my time!
But thanks for the considered response! Am always glad to hear from the enlightened!
P.S. I feel so much better knowing that as long as I don' t have an opinion I' ll be alright!

No apology needed, if people don' t wake up one day we won' t have the need for any board like this in the first place. In other words " Your preaching to the choir brother" .
