I put this in the politics forum but its too important not to put here. A new bill has been written and coming for a vote in the house. HB 5717. Another attempt at banning many firearms. ARs, AKs, any gun with a pistol grip or folding stock and a whole bunch of stipulations. It even goes so far as to tell us what guns we CAN own! I urge you to contact your representative NOW and tell him to vote NO. This is a severe violation of our Second Amendment rights. Even if you don't own any of the firearms listed in this bill you should still contact your Rep. or your's could be next.

I hope more than 35 have read this and contact their representatives. This is no joke.

This bill is FAR worse than an Assault Weapons Ban. It’s a ridiculously unconstitutional bill, aimed at completely undermining the integrity of our God Given right to bear arms, as acknowledged and protected by the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

It IS a Federal Assault Weapons Ban, effectively establishing any and all semiauto rifles and handguns with detachable magazines and any ONE other feature to be Assault Weapons. Threaded barrel pistols, as an example.

But beyond the FAWB, it is a direct conversion of our God Given Right to bear arms into a license PRIVILEGE, which, by the letter of the bill, is exceptionally difficult and costly to earn, and exceptionally easy to lose.

This establishes that a Federal Firearms Ownership license would be required to own, purchase, or possess firearms, which requires training and background checks at cost.

It eliminates all private sales/ transfers of firearms, including gifting of firearms outside of 2 degrees of immediate family. It prohibits temporary transfer - aka loaning a firearm to someone - without the owner present and anywhere except at a shooting range.

It establishes a database of firearms and ammunition tracking such that allowing your License to expire (10yrs) without record of sale/transfer of all registered firearms would be grounds for a warrant (indicated illegal possession of firearms and ammunition without a license).

It establishes federal Red Flag Laws, as “information that a person may be a risk to public safety” is defined as grounds for denial or revocation of a Federal Firearms Ownership License.

It establishes that it will be a crime to own a firearm without an approved locking safe.

It establishes that it will be a crime, punishable by $500 fine, forfeiture of the firearm, and potential loss of License if a minor gains access to a firearm without permission of the owner, even despite satisfying the legal requirement for secure storage.

This bill is not a restriction of our rights, it’s an absolute transference of our RIGHT into a PURCHASED AND RESTRICTED PRIVILEGE.
