I have 3 Savage rifles and one striker pistol and they all shoot excellent, the only thing is the trigers are not the best and so there are a lot of aftermarkers on sale,O buy the way I guess I have 4, I just bought a new17,and at 50 yards you can light farmers matches at 35 yards, for $189bucks that isn' t bad!!!!!!!!

You will get a very good servicable rifle for a great price. Accuracy should be quite good, and reliability will be wonderful. They aren' t the smoothest or " prettiest" but it' s a tool. I have a 110 in 30/06 and it has performed flawlessly even under severe conditions and rough treatment. The scope you will get with a " package" deal will be the weak link.

I purchased a Savage model 10 combo in 243 for my son. Great gun for the price. They mounted and boresighted a Simmons 3x9 scope, sling, and gun case for $300. It shoots 1" groups at 100 yds. easily. And I didn' t even play with different ammo. Grabbed two boxes of Federal Nosler Partition (moly coated) in 70 and 100 grain. Shot fine. IMO the quality is alot better than the Remington model 7 that I bought for my wife, and that' s a whole different topic to explain. After 20 rounds it had feeding problems, definatly not smooth. If I had to do all over again, I' d buy the Savage for my wife.

I have a Savage 30-06, synthetic stock with the Simmons scope and love the gun. I have had it for 3 years now and I have killed several deer with it. I only missed 1 deer with it, a 6 pointer. He was facing directly at me and I was too nervous with that many points on it to shoot straight. Before that I had only shot spikes. I usually shot the 165 grain bullets, either Winchester or Remmington.
At the range I soot 100 yards with nice groups.

I' m used to the scope and if no one would have mentioned that it is a weak link, I would not have noticed it. I also added the Bonnie sling and that works geat too.

EOGRR1. I had that trouble with a few of mine. I took the magzine spring out and streched a lille and bent the front end of the spring up just a tad. Worked perfect after that.
