I have a 2006 Wingmaster in 20ga, and one that's about 20yrs older. A buddy of mine just bought a 2014 vintage Wingmaster before bird season.
Comparing the 3, I wouldn't say that you're gaining anything to buy a pre-Cerberus versus a current production other than getting to feel like you were buying something that wasn't "corporate". The 2014 and the 2006 are almost indistinguishable, and neither is fit nor finished as well as the vintage model.
The Pre-Remington buy-out Marlin's make a huge difference as compared to the 2008 to about 2013 Marlins, but they've remedied most of their issues and seem to be back on track.
Where they were produced seems to make far more difference than who owned the company when they were made.
