Default what is this a pic of?

rand new rifle that I just bought. I unpacked it and gave it a cleaning inside and out. Mounted a scope and oiled the inside and out. It's been sitting in my finished basement with dehumidifier running. Every day just out of curiosity I wipe it down with more oil and the patches keep removing what appears to be rust. I can't see anything on the matte surface of the barrel just on the patch. I've used various oils like weapon shield, qmaxx blu, and collector. I just dont get what's going on here.

did you get all the gunk that the manufacturer put's in it to keep it from rusting first? if the gun was perfectly clean and you are getting patches like that it's light rust and it's too humid in your basement if you have to leave it down there clean it properly and run a good quality oil i use butch's gun oil down the barrel and get one of those silicone impregnated gun socks and put it in there and check often to make sure what you have done is working i used to live in new york state and had my room in the basement so i know what your going thru.

Yeah I cleaned it all out. I've got a lot of other guns in the basement but they are not doing this.

Default Cleaning it

You said you cleaned the rifle, Did you clean the outside of the bbl. I have a Remi 700 i just bought, and stuff like that came off the outside of the bbl for the next two cleanings . Now patches come off clean. Good luck.

Did you clean the rifle inside and out with some kind of degreaser? They use cosmoline for a reason on stored guns, it persistently stays on the gun.
