Are You Personally Satisfied With Gun Show Prices?
I am not trying to start a big squabble, but several of my friends have recently expressed discontent with the prices and condition of guns at gunshows. Are any of you feeling the same way? Why? I have several fellow shooters who have recently told me that if they had not known guns "inside and out" that they would have been taken by the price and especially by the sellers alleging that the guns were in "excellent to mint condition," when actually they had problems with feeding, extraction, attempts to cover up cracked stocks, "original" pre 64 Winchester lever actions that weren't as described, etc. I am hoping that this scenario is few and far between. What do you think?

yeah, just like when you are looking for a used car and you call the owner and they say the tires are fine and there is no rust at all, then when you drive an hour to go look at the car it is rusted up the ..... and it needs 300 in tires. I hate that

I thing that I have noticed at gun shows lately are older handguns that have a lot of wear but are listed as new in the box. I have especially noticed 1rst or 2nd generation Glocks being sold at 3rd generation prices. There are exceptions. I saw a couple of third generation Glocks for $474. They were in excellent shape and I would have bought one had I not purchased an M96 Swede.

You can find good prices at shows but you have to becareful. You have to examine the gun throughout. You need to have some knowledge of prices before you go.Some of these sellers make it look like you getting a real bargain, when you could fine a brand new one for less. For old guns you need to decide what it's worth to you.If the gun is no longer made it's a sellers market.Just have to watch what you do and don't jump at the first thing you see.Ruger Redhawk

At gun shows you'll get some reputable dealers and also a bunch of thieving shmucks too! Some of them are fun to watch trying to give a story line on a particular gun to a prospective customer. Some get realy outrageous. I just have to be careful not to laugh to hard. Oh gosh I gotta tell ya one I heard.
This one dealer has a USED .444 Marlin that had the barrel trimed back and the front sight was never reattached. Price:$450!!! His sales pitch was that the .444 is such a powerful round that Marlin had trouble with the MUZZLE END of the barrel CRACKING.So they had short bbls on the first ones until they developed STRONGER steel to use in them!!! What a load of it!!!

You should NEVER buy a gun a a gun show unless your are INTIMATELY informed about the model and it's characteristics. It doesn't matter if you are buying from a
gun-show or a gun-shop. It doesn't matter if it's new or used...you should start off being informed. If you do otherwise, and have a problem, you'd better hope you bought from a high volume dealer,...so you can easily exchange your problem for a dream.
Gun shows often hold an inventory of MANY poor quality guns, a decent amount of DECENT quality guns, and a few HIGH QUALITY, GREAT INVESTMENT guns. It is up to you to know the difference.

When I go to a gun show, I'm only looking for certain items. I know what I'm willing to pay. I like to see what the customers are carrying around to sell. I've gotten some good deals that way. If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You're right 8mm. Nobody "gets screwed" at gun shows. They screw themselves. Know a gun thoroughly before you buy. If something looks too good to be true...IT PROBABLY IS!
As the shows become more popular, it becomes harder to find a deal.

all i can say is you gota know your stuff...and know how to see problems w/o actually firing the weapons and know whats from wear and tear and abuse...if a guns abused a dont even look at it after i can tell...and a gun with rust and a gunthat hasnt been cleaned...all sure signs of a careless owner...just learn whats good and garbage...you can make out at a show..
