Need a little help

All that you listed are good, but my personal choice would be between the Remington or the Savage, followed Winchester, then the Vangaurd. Like I said though, they all are good quality rifles, handle them all and get the one fits and feels the best to you, dont get what someone thinks will be the best for you. JMO.

A $5 saddle on a $40 horse doesn't make any more sense than the other way around.
Spending $1000 on a rifle to add a $300 scope in $40 rings and a $50 base just doesn't make sense to me. That's how great rifles get bad reputations for accuracy.

As Psylocide mentioned...I too would also add Tikka to the list. Of the ones you listed, only a Savage of a Weatherby Vanguard would find it's way to my safe...I wouldn't buy a new Winchester or a new Remington right now.
As someone else mentioned...don't forget to invest in quality optics...that being said, you can purchase good rings and bases for well under $100 from several quality makers (Millett, Warne, DNZ, EGW and even Luppy's will serve you well)...and a quality piece of glass doesn't need to cost you $1000 for a hunting rifle...for around $400 a good 3-9x40 scope in a Nikon Monarch, Swift Premier, Bushnell (elite series ONLY), Redfield, Burris and even some Luppy's can be had and all of them will serve you a lifetime. Some of those can be had for under $300 if you shop around.

RWK,
Listen here and you are well underway to putting together a good rig.
Spend as much on your optics as you do on your gun !!!
Accurate and will last you a lifetime !

I'm a big Remington fan, but I know alot of folks aren't overly thrilled with recent models. Any of the older models are money, imo.
I've been looking too... Savage seems to be real solid, also the Vanguard, and Howa are on my list right now too. Depending on the model gun you choose, you can get set up with a VERY nice scope within your budget, imo. I just recommend staying away from real low end model guns, regardless of maker.
