Doesn't mean it's an original barrel. The action is part of what made the pre-64's great (yeah yeah, quality of finish, wood, etc), so a rebarrel isn't something that would have been totally out of line over the last 65yrs.

That may well be what it is because manufacturers do not like to stamp another manufacturers name on their stuff and they may have left off the H&H because it was a competitor of theirs. That could lead to a problem after the 300 win mag was introduced in 1963 if the OP doesn't really know what caliber he has.

the serial number is 348685 and the barrel is stamped 300 win mag. when i ran the serial number is stated it was manufactured in 1955. if you have different info please share. the gun blue book valued it at 3100 hundred on the high end.
