Savage or Tikka

No way I could make myself buy the Tika, unless, I knew I was going to get a different stock. My buddies Tika 300 WSM shoots lights out but neither one of us likes the stock. It just seems cheap.

Thanks emtrescue,i was hoping someone that owned both rifles would post...thank-you.
ColoradoLuckydog...The stock on the Tikka looks cheap BC it is cheap!! That doesn't matter i'm going to replace ot with a Boyds lami anyway no matter which rifle i buy.
Like i said in my previous post i'm leaning more toward the Savage.

I agree on the stock Luckydog...but I also think the stock on my Savage model 11 is also crap (my Savage Model 10 is an accu-stock and it's a little better...and the 93 is a wood stock)...I still give a slight edge to the Tikka...it just handles a little nicer and really shoots well.

I have a Tikka t3 light in .270 and a Savage modle 12fv bull barrel. I like both guns. The Savage is more accurate but is a bull barrel. The Savage bolt isn't half what the Savage is cause the tip of the bullet hits the top of the barrel and gets stuck all the time. Tikka has no problems. I have heard from a gun smith that Tikka has an aluminum part in it some where that deforms after a while. It happens worse in the magnums. Weather it's true or not or they fixed it I'm not sure. I like the stock more on the Tikka. The Savage is actually bent a little bit.

The stock on either one is not going to be anything to write home about. And if you are going to replace it anyway then I certainly wouldn't let that be the deciding factor. The action on the Tikka will be slicker than the Savage. And although Savages have a good rep for accuracy in an inexpensive rifle I have never seen any rifle in the Tikka's price range out shoot them straight out of the box.
