Savage or Tikka

These two manufactures offer their rifles chambered in 260REM. So being that they're in my price range i guess i'm going to have to choose between these two.

So what's your opinion on the two mentioned? Please list the pros and cons of each.

I know Sako offers rifles in 260 but it aint in the cards.

Both are good accurate rifles that you cant go wrong with. I would personally go with the Savage, mainly because it is a American owned company that is also made in America. JMHO

I suggest you try them both for fit and feel. As for quality and accuracy - both rifles will (or should) be accurate and reliable. The Accutrigger on the Savage is sweet, but the Tikka T3 trigger is also very very nice. Cycling the action is an entirely different story though. The Tikka action is super slick. The first time I took mine to the range I didn't think I picked up a round from the in-line magazine.

Thanks Jim & bronko. I've already handled both rifles and i've shot both rifles. Both fit equally as well, both were accurate........ Just seems the tikka is a little on the cheap side but that might just be me.

given the choices I'd go with a tikka because I can get a sako style mcmillian stock for it, I do not care for there stock at all. But if I was going to leave it factory I'd probably go with the savage. Is it a savage edge or a 11 - 110 if it was a edge I'd get anything else but that's me

Tikka would be my choice. Good luck.

Buy it!!!! That is a great rifle. I have one in a 30-06, it is a very well made and accurate gun. That will be a real sweetheart chambered in a 260.

Yeah i leaning more toward Savage. I'll probally take it out of the accustock and stick it a Boyds laminate like i did with my Rem700.

You can't go wrong with either...I have a Tikka T3 Stainless Lite in 270 WSM and have several new Savages...a Model 11 in 7mm-08, a Model 10 (FLCP-K) in .308 and a Model 93 in 17 HMR...all 3 have the accu-trigger and all three shoot very well and handle nicely.

The Tikka is my primary whitetail rifle and it is a tack driver. The trigger breaks like glass (is easily adjustable), the bolt is butter smooth and it just handles very nicely. Detachable mag is also a plus.

All of the Savages also have detachable mags, adjustable triggers (accu-trigger), shoot very well and handle well...but the bolt's on the Savages do not compare to the Tikka...that's the only real advantage I see between them.
