How much are you wanting to spend? In my experience with rifles:
Rem. 700 Mountain LSS in 260 - unbelievably horrible accuracy. I was told after I sold it Remington got the twist wrong, but I do not know.
Sako 75 Hunter in 260 - I kick myself for trading this gun.
Savage 110 in 270 - Early trade in my life and a very accurate POS.
My next 260 purchase will be a Cooper, just because I have always wanted one and can now afford it.

Curious...my Remington was one of the very first Mtn. LSS. It came with a 1-9 twist. Not ideal for anything over 140 gr but I have bigger guns that do that. Newer models came with 1-8 twist. Mine is smokin accurate.

Thanks for all the input guys. This gun will probably be for my son to hunt with, I'm not looking to spend a ton honestly....and heck, I dont even really need it - more of a want than a need

It's interesting to hear about the twist...I didn't know that. I personally have a mountain rifle in .280 and its a tack driver. I figured they would all be, didn't know they changed the twist. I'll have to do some more research. A model 7 would even be a nice little setup.

I am interested in hearing anyone else's experience with the Savage guns, particularly the package guns. If they are even remotely good, looks like a great deal to me for the price.

Thanks
