Anyone familiar with the browning a-bolt?
Hey I'm new to the forum and a new hunter.
I recently purchased an a-bolt in 30-06 as my first deer rifle.
Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this gun and knows what kind of factory ammo it likes.
Looking at 150/165 grain for whitetail.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Ammo is gun specific, not model specific. What one person's Abolt likes, another wont. Best thing to do, try some federal, winchester, and remington ammo, and see what it likes best. May also try the 180gr loads

I am currenlty considering an X bolt I have a browning sarfi grade BAR in 338 win mag with the boss and can shoot 3 shot groups at hundered yards you can cover with a dime.
usinging winchester ballistic sliver tips with the boss only moved to the sweet spot love this rifle I am a lefty so semi automatic was my choice because couldn't find a bolt or X bolt at the time. And the Bar I have even though its 338 win mag has less recoil then my 223 my daughter loves the gun if she had her way it would be hers heheh

I have an A-Bolt and love it! However, Streetglideok has it right; "gun specific, not model specific." If you do have problems with accuracy and precision, it might not be the ammo; it could be the trigger. But, its nothing a Rifle Basix trigger spring kit specific to the Browning A-Bolt can't fix. Its model BRN-SPR. Not cheap, but worth it to me!
