We all have different opinions on some and the same on others.Of the three mentioned all are a good choice for whitetails. The 308 with a shorter action. The 30-06 with a wider range of different bullets and weights. My all time favorite for whitetails has to be the .270 Win.I use 150gr bullets and it lays them low.In most cases they drop in their tracks.The 270 has less recoil and shoots flatter then the 30-06.The 7mm08 and 7mm RemMag are other good choices.If you stick with any mentioned here you' ll have a good cartridge suited for whitetails.
