I came across a Savage 4x4, has 4x4 etched on the bolt, it' s only the third one I have ever seen. I think they were made in the early 1990' s.
It' s a .223 hvy 20inch barrel with black syn stock.
One of the most accurate guns I have fired. (Thats saying alot)
Problem is I can' t find it in any of my books and the people at Savage say they never heard of one.
I know they made them because the first one I saw was bought from a Savage dealer/wholesaler.
Can anyone help me with info or where to look for info. I have exhausted all my sources.
Thanks for any and all help

I talked to a guy at a gun show and he said that Savage made the rifle only one year. Wasn' t sure what year.
Supposedly they were for people to carry in their pick-ups for varmints hence the short barrel and the name 4X4.
Don' t know if this is true but it makes as much sense as anything else I have found, which is nothing.
