Default Savage .243 Model 110GXP3

Hey guys! I haven' t been here in months, but I was wanting to
ask you guys what opinion yall have of the Savage Mod. 110GXP3 package gun?
It looks very very nice. My brother own one, but I would like to have one of my own if it trully is a good, hard hitting rifle. From my brother' s gun, the Savage is imaculent in quality. It feels light, and just good to the touch and aim, and is very cool. I am seriously thinking about purchasing this gun. Also, is the .243 a good cartridge? I have used it hunting before, but just how good is it? Any comments or experiences that any of yall have had with the Savage Mod 110GXP3 package gun & with the .243 cartridge in general would be greatly appreciated!![8D]

the savage I' m not formular with,I have a Rem. carbine in the 243 cal.and love it.
it is a very good cal. for whitetail and wild hogs size game.
I have taken many, many, deer and hogs with mine with no problems.
bullet placement is always very important,in any cal.my wife also shoot a Rem. model 742 in 243 cal.

Savage makes great rifles but there are two thing I' d think about with your choice. First, the .243 is marginal for deer, so marginal that I personally wouldn' t use one for deer hunting. Yes, it will kill deer but there are much, much better calibers for the job. Second, the scopes and mounts on the package guns are junk. You' ll be much better served to buy the rifle by itself and put a decent scope and decent rings on it.

The 243 is a very good deer caliper. My hunting crew have take more than one,as a matter of fact, alot of Mule Deer,Antelope and big Whitetails, with this [:-] It is also a very good varmit gun,so it may used all year long[8D]
As was stated, the scope package ,would do in a pinch, but buy the gun and put your own on it [:' (]

I have a 110 FXP3 package gun and I have had no problems with the rings or scope, and the 243 is a very good deer caliber, at least in northwest Arkansas where I live and hunt.
I was looking for a flat shooting cartridge and a quality rifle and did a lot of resaerch before I decided on the Savage.
IMHO you can' t beat this package for quality, economy, and all around shooting enjoyment.

I have to go along with Boltman.Buy just the rifle and put decent rings and scope on it.I also agree that the .243 will kill a deer but there are much better calibers. Why not go with a 30-06?There are so many different bullet weights to choose in 30-06.You won' t go wrong with a Savage.Whatever you do stay away from the Remington 710.

the savage is an excellent rifle for the money , very accurate and dependable but , the scope is what the others have said it is , junk , also , the .243 can take a deer but , you have to remember shot placement , i think one in cartridge .308 would be a better choice
