Default 16 ga shotguns?

who makes a 16ga over/under?

this would be for upland game.

let's keep suggestions under $2k, although closer to $1000 would be much more ideal.

Personally, I'd look for used in a 16 gauge.

Or someone who has one for sale NIB from "yesteryear".

+1 Sheridan. With all the other offerings in gauges I really wonder why anyone would want a 16, with shells very difficult to find for the most part. I'd buy a 20 if it was me!

Default Browning Citori Lightning

This listing at GunsAmerica.com might be what you're looking for, last I check it was listed at US$1700.

If you want to see a video of the thing in action check this out. It sends shivers down my spine every time, lol.

It's showing at $1895 as of this post and that is about as good a O/U under as you'll get for $2K.

I'll have to handle one and see how I like it.

I may get a 20ga o/u.

But thought a 16ga might add a lil spice to the cabinet. Really like my 28ga o/u, although I'm guessing the 28ga might be more popular these days than the 16ga, although I kinda doubt the 16 is going anywhere, not that it's needed, may not be a great reason to get a 16 over a 20 or over a 12, but I think it'll always be around.

I remember being a boy and asking my dad about the "gauges" and hearing about the 28 and 16 always sounded like the mysterious ones, so I think I always wanted 1 of each! although I still like the 12, 20, and .410 too.

Now that I mention needing the 16, I may need to find a reason to get a 10ga, ha!

If you don't reload ammo for a 16 can be hard to come by and even when you find it selection is very limited.Just something to consider.

Both classic shotguns you don't see much anymore !

Both still have their "place" specfic to the task for why they were developed.

Some would say that the 16 gauge is the best all around gun,
for the one shotgun hunter.

This is a very good point here. In my younger days of "collecting" firearms, I was (and still am) a HUGE advocate for the 16ga. Anytime that I had extra money and was out looking for another shotgun, I would be delighted to find a 16 ga on the used gun racks of the local gun shops. To me they where a joy to shoot at the range and I also loved to go hunting with them. The 16 ga. holds sentimental value for me (as it was my first gun that I hunted Whitetails with) To me it carries a certain nostalgia to it when it is chambered in a relic type shotgun.

When I was first "accumulating" all my 16 ga's ; finding shells for them was not much of a task. And it seemed if I wanted any specialty ammo, it could easily be found at gun shows or a whole bunch of the old timers had bundles of it in their cabinets or reloading rooms. In my current experiences, the availability of the 16 ga just is not as plentiful anymore. I wish it where different because i really enjoyed shooting slugs out of mine.

9 times out of 10, if I where to go into Gander mountain and ask for a good quality sabot slugs for the 16 ga; they look at me like I have a third eye in the middle of my forehead.

I still don't regret buying all those 16's though.
