Default pellet gun for varmits

I have tree rats and chipmonks that either chew up lawn furniture or eat up the garden stuff. I have a Gamo pellet gun that is supposed to be a good gun. The scope with it would not stay on so I bought a rifle scope. It still shoots all over. I used to have an open sight that was much better. My gamo is a break barrel for ****ing and loading. I have come to the conclusion that if it does not seat exactly since the scope is on the gun and the barrel breaks it can not line up perfect each time. The trigger also has alot of play in it and it takes a long pull to set it off too. I do not want to have it where I may hit a tennis ball size target. I want to hit a quarter size target consistantly. Are any of you into pellet gun shooting and want the accuracy I am looking for? What do you shoot? I want to find the best for the money. I looked at a new crossman that was so akward to put it up to your shoulder I said no way on that one.

I use a RWS 34.
A spring piston powerhouse in a break barrel rifle for up to 1000 fps. Automatic safety; rifled barrel. Combo includes a 4x32 compact scope and 2-piece C-mount. Barrel length: 19.5''. Overall length: 45''. Weight: 7.3 lbs.

No problems hitting squriels at the top of trees, the accuracy is about 1" at 20 yards. When the accuracy starts to fade I brush & clean the bore real good and it helps a lot.

I used an RWS, break pump. Shot great. I guess abou 1000 fps. Do not recall the model. One of their middle of the line models. Gave it to my daughter 6 years ago. It was an excellent shooter and I probalby killed 30-50 squirrels with it. Buggers were eating the house siding!

Some of the Gamo's are known to be inaccurate out of the box. My father wanted an air rifle to shoot the nuisance squirrels with instead of his Ruger 10/22.

After reading a lot of reviews, it seems that some just come out of the box and are bad. Try exchanging it for another one. Maybe you'll get one that works as it should. From what we could tell was that most of them work great, and others are lemons that shoot like yours.

My father chose to buy more equipment for his hobbies instead of an airgun so I was not able to shoot one myself. The only one I've seen shot is a Game Whisper that a guy brought to the range last year. His was very accurate at 25 yards out of the box. It was a nice little gun which is why I made the Gamo recommendation to my father when he brought the idea up.

Default air rifles

cam, rws are a good air rifle. if you want to put a scope on one you must use an air rifle scope not a regular rifle scope. the recoil of an air rifle is different than a standard rifle. hope this helps you.
