I have 100 grain federal premium nosler partition bullets for my .243. I was looking at the ballistic charts in federals magazine and It said that it was tested for a 24 inch barrel. Mine is a 22 inch barrel and I was wondering if there is any way to convert those numbers or do i just have to shoot at those ranges and figure it out. Thanks for the help-Sam

Don' t put much faith in any velocity figures given in reloading manuals.Since you are not using the exact gun or lot numbers of components used in the manual you can' t expect to see the same velocity from your gun.Even with the same load and length of barrel, velocities will vary up to 100fps or even more with different rifles.

The only way to know your bullet drop for sure is to shoot your gun with the loads you are going to hunt with at the distances you might be shooting while hunting.

Go to www.norma.cc or www.realguns.com and fill in the blanks for your general ballistic information. Your Velocity will be 2960 f/s; ballistic coefficient (BC) .384; Sectional Density (SD) .242. Good luck.
