300 wsm, reasonable recoil, short action, packs a wallop way out there. 30-06 is a good round, 308 has it's limitations on large animals.

Go with the .308, you will never regret it!!!!

I chose the .300 Win Mag 15 years ago and never regretted it. It might be a little "overkill" for deer but nobody ever tags mine. Mine's taken loads of whitetail bucks and does, two elk, a mule deer and a black bear. None went more then five yards.
