Default Which one would you use?

Im going for black bear and can't decide which to use. My choices are 308, 30.06, 7mm mag.
I have bigger guns but they have higher power scopes on them and wouldn't be useful on the shorter shots I'm expecting in thick cover.
What's your opinion?

I'm going black bear hunting also, and plan on taking my 30-06. Because you said that you are going to be hunting heavy cover, I would take the .308 or .30-06. I think that the 7 mag has too much velocity to be used for shorter shots. I am planning to use 180 gr. core lokts, What are you planning to use if you take one of the .30 cal's?

There is no such thing as too much velocity if you use a good bullet such as a partition.I have used my 7mm stw at 20 yards with no problems at all.

Any of the three would work .I used a 25-06 on the last one I shot and it was fine . The 30-06 would be my choice of the three mentioned .
