I currently shoot a 7mm imperial magnum which is virtually identical to the 7mm rum.I also shoot two 7mm stw's and a couple of 300 ultra mags.I find that there is approx 75 fps difference between the stw's and ultramag( approx 3500fps to 3575fps with handloads)with 140 gr bullets.The 300ultra gains a lot more from the larger case due to it's larger bore(3375fps with 180gr handloads).If you shoot 150gr bullets in the 7mm and 180's in the 300 trajectory is virtually identical but the 300 has significantly more recoil.You must handload to get the most from the ultramags as remington loads them very mild.
